Versus language school was founded a long time ago, to be more precise in 1991, and was one of the first instutitions of its kind in Croatia. Since its start with basic language classes in English,German and Italian, the school has evolved and now offers a variety of classes, and has added French, German and Spanish courses to the portofolio. Moreover, we offer Croatian classes to foreigners.

In cooperation with British Council Croatia, for more than ten years now, we have been preparing candidates for exams organized by Cambridge University which allow them to obtain internationally recognized certificates of language excellence.

Our own excellence in preparing candidates has been recognized. Thus, we are proud to have been granted the Silver Partner status by British Council Croatia. Only a number of language schools in Croatia have managed to achieve it. Why? The prerequisite for it is to prepare successfully at least 50 candidates per annum.

In addition to our Krapina headquarters, we also offer classes in multiple locations across Zagorje region, including Zabok and Oroslavlje.

Versus is not only a school, it is an institution well recognized throughout Zagorje.

MULTICULTURALISM

For a long time now, we have a mutual understanding with a group of professors from USA on how important it is to work for the community and contribute to its development. Our close collaboration started by organising IT and speaking courses. Today, their input is a core part of the teaching process in Versus (a week every year).

Furthermore, we also invite native speakers to teach and share their experiences with our students. We have hosted guest lecturers from all parts of the world, ranging from Portuguese to Germans and Americans.

One of the concepts behind our courses and teaching is that we try to provide our students with all the skills required to study or work abroad successfully; for example we try to show them how to integrate fastly into new cultures and undestand different customs.

Every school year we organise, for our students, educational trips at affordable prices to European and American cities using services of budget airlines and hostel accomondation. We have already been to Edinbourgh, Dublin, London, Berlin, Barcelona, New York, LA, Stochkolm, Oslo. One of the principles we stand for is that languages can only be mastered fully by using them in their home countries.

Versus is not just a school, it’s a place where cultures and ideas meet.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

One of the core prerequisites for modern teaching is using modern techologies. For years now, we have been promoting the usage of latest technologies in the education process. Thus, we were among the first ones to organise IT classes. We managed to do this with the help of our friends and IT experts from USA.

We are constantly following the emergence of new technologies.Already 5 years ago, we purchased several laptops which have been used extensively in the inter-active teaching process.

This year, we have continued to invest into new technology. We added 3 high-quality smart boards to the, previously, mentioned laptops. With this aquisition, Versus became a leader in providing technologically – equipped learning environment with the student still in the centre of the process.

Versus is not just a school, its a multimedia center.

MODERN TEACHING PROCESS

The focus of what we do at Versus is the student. This is why our approach is adapted to each student and is based on empowering individuality, openess and flexibility.

In addition, we constantly try to adapt the teaching process to the needs of a highly globalized society. To give our students the know-how is neccesary to prepare them for a fast-paced environment in which we live today.

To this goal , we use up-to-date information from various established media groups, from the Guardian to Der Spiegel.

“ Think globally, act locally!“ We try to keep up-to-date with teaching methods used in the education process in Canada, USA, Great Britain. We then incorporate these methods into what we do at Versus.

Versus is not just a school, but a place where modern ideas have sex.

VERSUS – PART OF THE COMMUNITY

One of the motives for founding Versus was to promote positive values in the society, such as dialogue and tolerance. Thus, since the start, we have supported various NGOs and groups of young activists, who wish to help the society prosper. We are long-lasting partners of various NGOs promoting the empowerment of youth in the society and, in addition to this, of NGOs promoting alternative culture in our region. We are proud to state that some of the initiatives for founding these NGOs were conceived by ex- Versus students.

We find that the responisbility of every entrepreneur is to give back to the community and promote modern values in the society. We strongly believe that focusing on the development of the local community is the basis of every modern forward-looking business!
